Resaca de la Palma State Park & World Birding Center

1000 New Carmen Ave. · Brownsville, TX

Resaca de la Palma is a 1,200 acre state park and the largest of the nine World Birding Center sites, with more than 335 species recorded on eBird. Day use is $4 for adults and free for children 12 and under, and the trails are open for hiking and cycling with a tram running the main road for anyone who does not want to walk it. Mild winters pull in waterfowl and sparrows, so October through April is the stretch that matters for Winter Texans. The visitor center keeps shorter hours than the park itself, closing at 4:30pm.
