Bentsen is the flagship of the nine-site World Birding Center and sits right on the river in Mission. Cars stay at the entrance, so you walk, bike, or ride the tram through 760 acres of thorn forest looking for green jays, chachalacas, and the winter hawk flights. Day use runs $5 per adult and kids 12 and under get in free. It is a short drive from the Bentsen Palm and Chimney Park RV parks, so many Winter Texans make it a regular morning walk.
