The Season in La Feria
La Feria's parks line the Business 83 corridor and the farm roads south of it, and several are the old, settled kind where the activity calendar runs on volunteers who have been wintering in the same spot for twenty years: dances, card nights, woodshops, and potlucks with a rhythm the newer resorts can't fake.
The location is the quiet advantage. Harlingen's airport, hospital, and antique district are fifteen minutes east; Weslaco, Estero Llano Grande State Park, and the Don-Wes Flea Market are fifteen minutes west; and the Progreso bridge is about twenty minutes for the Nuevo Progreso run. Almost nothing in the Lower or Mid-Valley is more than half an hour from a La Feria lot.
What to Know Before You Book
La Feria itself stays small: a grocery store, some good taquerias, and a short main street, so the town won't entertain you and doesn't try to. Everything beyond the basics is a drive, just a short one in every direction. If you want more happening outside the gate, Harlingen or Weslaco fits better; if the park is your season, La Feria's rents and location are hard to argue with.
