The Vermillion has been on Paredes Line Road since 1934, which makes it one of the oldest continuously running restaurants in Brownsville. The menu runs both ways, charbroiled steaks, chicken-fried steak, burgers, and homemade chili on the American side, fajitas, tacos, and chalupas on the Mexican side, and the portions have a reputation for being large. There is a full bar with televisions, so it gets louder in the evening than at lunch. Doors open at 11am daily and it runs to 10pm, an hour later on Friday and Saturday.
